There was agreement that it is appropriate to use the sanctuary for events that raise funds for charity or as outreach. However, the events must be appropriate, respectful, and purposeful - in the sacred space of the sanctuary. Session members were less comfortable with events that resulted in individuals hosting the event making money.
Each request will need to continue to be brought to the Session for consideration. The Session will consider the following as part of the decision making process for requests:

The cost to use the sanctuary is determined by the Stewards. The current policy is to recover costs for use of the sanctuary. The costs to use the sanctuary varies from $200 to $400, depending on whether or not heating is required. There could be additional costs for the Minister, organist or caretaker (if appropriate).

Fees may be waived for active members or adherents of the congregation or their families. One example would be if an event is for the purpose is fundraising or beneficial to the congregation or community.

Irvine Hall in Williamstown is available for private functions such as baby showers, bridal showers, business meetings, and more.

In your e-mail, please provide your name, telephone number, and date you are interested in booking the hall. A response could take up to a week.
